Coach Bio Jason Hubbard

Jason Hubbard Chartered Professional Coach, B.A., B.Ed., OCT

Jason is an NCCP certified level three coach. He has extensive coaching experience in both volleyball and beach volleyball where he uses the latest high performance coaching methods. His coaching has contributed to National and International medals and it has helped players develop to Collegiate, National, and International levels. He employs high-performance methodology and practices to guide athletes to become better athletes and better people.

Jason is an educator in his fifteenth year with the Simcoe County District School Board. He teaches high-school English where he merges educationally data-driven best practices with cutting-edge, scientifically researched coaching methods to deliver curriculum that is standards’-driven, meaningful, and empowering.

Jason worked as Beach Development Coach for Canada’s National Beach Team (2010-2014). While Jason was involved with the program, Canada qualified men’s and women’s teams for the London 2012 Olympics. During his time with the program, Canada won medals at FIVB Junior World Championships (Gold 2010, Silver 2011) and at FIVB Youth World Championships (Bronze 2011). Jason was also a member of the coaching staff at the Pan Am Games in 2011 and World Championships in 2011. Before joining Team Canada, Jason served as the Head Coach for Ontario’s Provincial Beach Volleyball Team (2007-2009). In 2009, he coached Ontario to Gold at Canada Games.

Coaching indoor volleyball, Jason was the Head Coach of Bear Creek S.S boys’ team where they won GBSSA Championships in 2004, 2006, and 2007 (several players from these teams went on to play CIS/OUA/OCAA). He was also an assistant coach with OCAA Georgian College men’s volleyball team (2000-2003, 2008).

As an athlete, Jason played both indoor and beach volleyball. He played for the University of Waterloo (1994-1999), where he captained the team (1997-1999). Jason was awarded with OUA All-Star honours his last three seasons, and won MVP at the Inaugural OUA All-Star Game (1999). Following his CIS career, Jason played on several GTA men’s club teams. Annually competing for the National Championship, he won bronze in 2004 and silver in 2003 along with Tournament All-Star honours.

On the sand, Jason competed domestically and abroad. He was a three-time Ontario Provincial Champion (2004, 2006, 2007) with seven consecutive Ontario Provincial Beach Championship Finals (2002-2008), and five consecutive Top-Five finishes at Canadian National Beach Championships (2004-2008).
